The Story Behind Our Hickory
Hickory is a dense and heavy hardwood that is perfect for memorable fireside experiences.
Its density means it will burn longer than other hardwoods, allowing you to spend less time
feeding the fire and more time enjoying it.
Hickory’s classic crackle sound and hot burning properties make it ideal for cold nights with
friends and family gathered around the fire pit. If you’re looking for a great aroma, the smell
of burning hickory is one of the best. Since our firewood undergoes a rigorous drying process,
you’ll never smell mold or must mixed in with your fire. You and your guests will simply enjoy
the pure aroma of hickory.
There are over 12 different species of hickory firewood, and all of them are great for fires.
We work with our suppliers to choose the best pieces and cuts of hickory. Our wood is sourced
locally to the kiln, so it undergoes our rigorous drying process while still fresh. This ensures
that our wood has not started decomposing and remains hard and dense.
The Longer Length hickory firewood is a unique specialty cut. The firewood is delivered to our
warehouse, where our team hand-selects each piece to ensure it meets our quality standards. It
is then placed inside one of our racks for delivery.
Depending on your location, we deliver or ship the hickory firewood to your home. If you’re in a
local delivery area, our delivery artisans can place the firewood and stack it anywhere you choose.
Hickory firewood from Cutting Edge is perfect for display as well. It has a clean appearance and
provides a fresh aroma year-round. Because it is pest, mold, and fungus-free, you can feel good
about storing it inside. Keep it close to the fireplace so you’ll be ready to start a fire when
cold weather hits or when you simply want to enjoy the crackle and look of a premium fire.
What’s in the Order?
The 30″ hickory firewood is too heavy for our standard 2′ wide, 4′ tall racks. Instead, we use
wooden racks that are about 3′ tall with extended-length wood sticking out on both sides. One
order includes 4 of these wooden racks and is enough wood to fill a
4′ x 4′ wide metal rack
(with some extra wood to spare).
If you are a local delivery customer,
our delivery artisans will stack the firewood inside your existing rack, or we can bring you a new rack.
We recommend purchasing
a fire starter package
to make lighting your firewood quick, easy, and convenient.
Orders shipped outside of our delivery zones will receive firewood on a pallet. For shipping customers,
we highly recommend our
ultimate 30″ package
(pictured to the right), which also includes 2 fire starter packages, a hand truck, and complimentary shipping.
If you prefer our standard cut (16″) firewood, we suggest trying out a
box of our hickory
or a rack of hickory firewood.
